Our History
Established in 2008, the Chandramohan Family Foundation was founded by Sri Lankan immigrants, Mohan and Geeta Chandramohan, who came to the United States in the early 1980s. While they built their individual careers across the country—Mohan in Los Angeles, working his way up in the reprographics industry and getting his MBA from UCLA, and Geeta in South Carolina, completing her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology—they shared a deep commitment to philanthropy. Mohan’s career culminated in acquiring the reprographics company and building it into one of the largest document solutions companies in the nation, which became publicly traded on the NYSE in 2005. Upon his retirement in 2007, Mohan, in a testament to his lifelong passion for learning, earned a second Master’s in Change Management from Oxford University.
Driven by the belief that a brighter future is only possible when basic needs are met, the Chandramohan’s created the foundation to support underprivileged communities in the U.S., Sri Lanka, and India with access to essential services like education, healthcare, and housing. It is also their hope that future generations of the family will carry on this legacy of service and intentional grantmaking, helping to ensure the work of the foundation endures.
Our Team
Mika Chandramohan Khan
Executive Director
A lifelong philanthropist, Mika Chandramohan Khan is the daughter of founders Mohan and Geeta Chandramohan. As Executive Director of the Chandramohan Family Foundation, she leads its day-to-day operations and works with the Board to set its strategic direction. Since taking on the role in 2025, Mika has focused on expanding the foundation's reach by creating a formal application-based grantmaking system.
With over a decade of experience in the nonprofit sector, Mika's career has included building programs with AmeriCorps, serving as a mental health therapist for transitional aged youth experiencing homelessness, and most recently as COO of CASA of Los Angeles, where she developed innovative programs to better serve foster youth.
Mika serves on the board of trustees for Flintridge Preparatory School, and on the advisory boards of Dogs for Better Lives and Green Fenix. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of San Francisco, master's degrees in social work and social entrepreneurship from USC, and an advanced certification in personal and executive coaching.
